Is “keeping your legs still” is sapping your speed and making you way too handsy? The upper body can only generate so much energy. If you want to hit the ball like the pros you must utilize your lower body in the proper way to effectively transfer all of your bodily momentum into the golf ball. That’s exactly what we will do with these “Dr. J” drills.
Lifting weights for swing speed can hurt you and help you. With weights you lift things much heavier than a golf club leaving you sore, slow, and not practicing swing motions. When you lift, it doesn’t guarantee you any speed or range of motion for the golf swing. For that we must practice swinging faster and faster. Strength and speed are different bodily functions, we must train them separately. When you’re body is sore from exercise, it’s difficult to swing the club fast; the whole swing becomes a task, and that is NOT what we want. The swing needs to be easy, fast, and fluid. You must practice moving fast over moving slow, or steady.
You’ve been told, over and over, swing compact! But, that’s not what the pros are doing… They are getting massive shoulder turns, and high, free flowing arms! But how can we do that, if we aren’t as flexible as the pros? I’ll go over how your left heel will unlock flexibility you never knew you had!
