C019. How to Make Solid Contact in Golf (3D Impact Drill)

In this video, you’ll learn how to make solid contact in golf.

With the help of MySwing Golf 3D motion capture system, you’ll see the impact position like you’ve never seen it before.

I strap on 17 sensors that creates a 3D computer model of the swing so we can take a super accurate look at the swing.

Although it makes me look a little goofy wearing the sensors, I love being able to use the software to accurately measure club angles and body positions.

G069. Why You Don’t Want to Bump Your Hips

Decades ago, I had an instructor actually teach me to bump my left hip out in order to get stacked on my left side.

The goal was to have me come into contact with a more descending blow.

That part makes sense because you want to compress the ball with your irons.

However, the part about bumping my hips towards the target was bad advice.

Here’s why…

I hit thousands of balls with my left hip bumped out and my hip started to hurt.

And the more I practiced, the more my hip and lower back hurt.

As an instructor, I’ve seen hundreds of players bumping their hips…

And guess what?

A lot of them experience hip and lower back pain.

DO NOT BUMP YOUR HIPS!

Bumping your hips can lead to long-term injuries as well.

It just isn’t worth the risk.

To demonstrate, I put on a crazy getup of MySwing sensors and make a few swings.

The sensors create a cool robot-like figure on the computer screen and the software allows us to accurately measure shoulder angles, the amount of shoulder turn, and much more.

The focus of this video is to get at least a 90-degree shoulder turn.

Pros average around 118 degrees.

You don’t need that much to make a good swing, but if you allow your hips to rotate back, you should be able to at least get 90 degrees.
