Why You Need This: Today, you'll discover "Bernhard Mews - Before & After - Flip to Compression"
Do you tend to hit weak, high shots that seem to go nowhere?
It might be because you’re flipping the club at impact… a pretty common problem.
One of Michael Derr’s students struggled with this.
But with one simple wrist adjustment, and a half-swing drill, Michael fixed his flip…
And now he’s got excellent compression, consistency, and more distance than before!
Watch now to discover this key wrist move and the drill…

What's going on guys? I'm Michael Derr, certified top speed golf instructor. And welcome to our before and after series, real students facing the same challenges as you. And today we're diving into how we transformed the dreaded flip into a tour level impact position. So if you're struggling with an early release of the club stick around, chances are you're dealing with the same issues this student had.
Now let's go ahead and take a quick look at the before and after. If we took a take a look at the before swing over here on your left. We're going to see a very, very common release pattern where the club head is taking over and we are early releasing the club head. Now, how I like to define this is if we go into impact and we draw the line down the arm, so I'm gonna take it through the shoulder and wrist joint down the arm.
And if the club shaft and the arm are aligned, then that would be an early release. And as you can see here, the student, his club, his club shaft is actually a little ahead of his arm. Now if we take a look at the after video where we have the tour level impact position, lemme go and back that up just to impact.
And we look at the, the, the release pattern here, and we draw that same line down the lead arm. We're gonna go through the shoulder and wrist joint, and we're also gonna go down the shaft. You're going to see that the arm is ahead of the shaft, creating this little space. In between which I call the compression angle.
This is a tore level impact position. This is a very, very stable release where we can get it a stable release pattern with the club going through impact. And if we just take a quick look at the overall shape of this, this is quite a magnificent transformation from the flip to a tor level stable release pattern.
Now, how did we get this? Well, a very common go-to drill that I go over with with my online students when I work with them through this, I keep it organized for them, is a half swing drill where we learn this position of getting the arm ahead of the shaft. And the key part of this is doing this in the right order.
The first key to that is first, just making sure that we're making contact with the arm ahead of the shaft. Now this is, regardless of where the ball goes, most players will start off hitting this ball way to the right. And that's completely okay as long as the arm is ahead of the shaft Now, that's just the first piece.
The key to getting this into the full swing like we saw in the after video, is understanding how to keep the arm ahead of the shaft and also square up the club face at the same time. So in order to do this, if you're familiar with the move section in the top speed golf system, you're going to understand that we bow the lead wrist in order to square up the club face, bowing the lead wrist.
Is the key to be able to keep the arm ahead of the shaft like you see in the after video. And as you can see here on the right from the down the line view in the drill, this ball is taking off nice and straight and penetrating. So the order of this is very simple. What we did is once we learned how to just make some contact, uh, with the arm ahead of the shaft, we worked on bowing the lead wrist, getting used to hitting it nice and solid and straight with the half swing, and then we drilled it into the full swing.
So if we take another look at the before swing, we can clearly see that he is using the flip to square up the club, which he had to do in order to hit the hit it straight with that release pattern. But since we educated the swing in the half swing and really learn how to bow the wrist and keep the arm ahead of the shaft, now, he was able to understand the feel.
Hit solid shots. And be able to work this into the full swing. Now this is where we trained and got to see this beautiful, stable tour level impact position going through the ball. And now as a quick bonus, if you look at the down the line view, we're going to see this ball taking off with a beautiful penetrating flight.
And I can tell you when I see this outta my players in the online program and I see the ball starting to take off like that, it gets very, very exciting. Now if you've tried half swing drills like this before or you start trying it out, remember the first key is to keep your arm ahead of the shaft.
Don't worry about where the ball goes at first. Then once you get that feeling pretty good, go ahead and get, go over to the move section in the top speed golf system and check out the move where we break down, how we use that lead wrist to square up the club phase, and then apply that to your half swing, and that'll give you the feel you need to start working it into your full swing.
Now guys, I really hope you enjoyed today's lesson, and you can see how little tiny tweaks can make a huge difference in the whole swing. Now, I've made a lot of crazy transformations with online students, extreme examples like you're seeing here and completely transforming swings and games. And if you're seeing this video, I've got some great news.
It means I actually have some spots that have recently opened up in my online review group. So if you're interested in get in, getting custom tailored instruction. To your swing and cutting through the clutter to see what small things you need to work on to cut to the chase and get your afterw. Go ahead and click the button below this video to get more information on the online review program.
Now, these spots tend to sell out very quickly, and I only open a few spots every now and then. So if you're interested, I'd highly recommend going ahead and clicking that button. And if the spots happen to already be sold out, be sure to join my waiting list so that you're notified. First when spots open.
