Alright, this is what it's gonna get really good. We're gonna start to put everything together. We have all three pieces of hitting great drives. Week one, we learned to release the face. To draw it. We learned to have the face a little bit more open to fade it. Week two, we start to add in path so that those draws start to the right and drawback and start to the left and fade back for the fades.
Week three, we begin to work on hitting the face. And what you found. If you did the T drill is that you have some control of being able to hit it off the toe of the heel. It may not be perfect yet, but you're getting some control of it. Now we're gonna work on hitting those perfectly straight shots.
We're going toward hitting 'em straight. Now, everything up into here would be to learn how to draw it more, fade it more. Now it's time to get it straightened out and get it all the curvature off the ball. Week four is gonna be all about hitting it straight. First thing I'm gonna do is I'm gonna hit, I'm gonna spray the club with some strike spray.
You are gonna try to hit your draws a little bit off the toe side of the club. Now remember if I'm drawing it, if I'm trying to draw the ball and I hit it off the heel, it's still gonna cut most of the time. So the last thing I want to do is swing from the inside, try to start it down the right side of the fairway and draw it back and hit it off the heel and it goes right in even further.
Right? Same thing with my fade. I don't wanna be playing that fade down the left side of the fairway, try to fade it back, and all of a sudden I hit off the toe and I pull, hook it. When you play your draws, I want you to practice hitting it off the toe to ensure that it turns over from right to left. It gives you a little extra buffer, a little cushion to make sure it turns over from right to left.
Then we're gonna go on our fade and we're gonna try to hit it off the heel side slightly so it ensures it turns over from left to right. Now when I say a heel or toe. You have the dead center of the club, I'm always okay if you hit it on the dead center of the club. So if you're trying to hit a draw and you hit it dead in the center, totally fine.
If you hit it one dimple towards the toe, totally fine. If you hit it all the way off the tip of the toe, totally fine. You're gonna see it's not gonna be a great shot, but I just wanna hit anywhere toward the toe side of the club. So here we're gonna set up, I'm gonna get a few of my draw swings to where I fill in my draw release that we've worked on throughout this entire course.
Getting that ball to turn over. Once I feel that in my practice swings, I kind of have the feeling of what I wanna do. If I'm trying to hit off the, the, the toe with these draws, I might set up to a t here at first and kind of practice hitting off the toe side of the club as I'm doing my draw type releases.
But once I find the feeling, now I'm gonna hit a shot and I'm gonna get five wins. I'm gonna alternate between draw, fade, and dead straight. Draw, fade, dead straight. Five wins for each. I'm gonna do the wind shift, loose stay like we'd be doing in this course to where as soon as you hit a good one, you shift.
So here I'm trying to do my draw swing and I'm trying to hit anywhere on the toe side of the club to guarantee that it draws back. So this should be a fairly big draw. 'cause I'm gonna hit it slightly out on the toe.
Yeah, and I got way out on the toe and it really hooked on me. I'm okay with that because I had the mist that I wanted to hit. I hit way out here. You'll notice that it's as long as you hit on that toe side somewhere, that ball is gonna curve from right to left when you're doing it. I'd count that as a win.
Not the best shot ever, but it's a win because I'm getting awareness of the face. I'm getting awareness of where I'm hitting it. Then I'm gonna go to the fade side. I'm gonna get my fade feels club out, fade release, just like we've been working on the whole course. If I wanna do a few practice swings where I hit on the.
Inside of the club a little bit more off the heel on that tee to get the feel of it. I do a few of those, but once I feel like I have the feel, I'm gonna now set up and I'm gonna keep on trying to hit this shot until I hit a, a fade that hits anywhere on the heel side of the club. So let's go ahead and try that out.
There we go. That one started. Left big sweeping fade. And I hit it off the heelside again. I don't care if it's dead center that counts or anywhere on the heel, it counts. It just can't be anywhere toward the toe side of the club. Once I felt both of those, now I'm working on my good swing. This is the swing we're gonna end up with at the end of the day.
I'm gonna try to find the middle of everything we've been working on. I'm gonna try to hit this ball dead straight. I can get rid of the brick. And just swing out here in the open. I'm gonna feel like if this was my draw release, this is my fade release, I'm somewhere right in the middle is gonna be the feeling I have.
I'm gonna feel like I hit it in the center of the club, and I'm gonna try to hit this ball dead straight. It's a successful shot if you hit it roughly straight. For most players, five yards of draw, five yards of fate is fine. For really good players, you may hold yourself to a little higher standard. It's okay.
Just be the best judge of what you would consider straight. It's almost impossible to hit one that doesn zero curve on it, but any kinda shot that you would say, yeah, that's a very straight ball. Same thing for the strike location on the face, a quarter inch off the heel or toe, or quarter inch, lower, high.
That's fine. It just has to be around the center of the club. Be your best judge on how you, what you would consider to be the center of the club. So I'm trying to hit one dead straight here and hit it on the middle of the face and I'm gonna keep on doing it until I get a good one. Let's give it a whirl.
I don't know if I've ever hit a ball straighter than that. I've gotten some good feels working through this course. It may have faded two yards and I hit it almost smack dab in the middle of the face. To be honest with you, I feel a lot more comfortable over the driver doing these last three weeks of drills 'cause I just got a lot of good feels from doing that Now if I hit it straight, but it's off the heel pretty much pretty far off the heel.
Try to work it out to the toe. You have to get both those pieces right? It has to fly fairly straight, has to be pretty much on the center of the of the club face. What you'll notice is when you're struggling to slice 'em, a lot of times they're gonna be on the heel side. When you're struggling to hook 'em, they're gonna be on the toe side.
So now I've got one win for each. I've hit a draw, I've hit a straight shot, I've hit a fade. I'm gonna go back to my draw again. I'm gonna try to hit off the toe, and then I'm gonna try to draw it. Go to the fade, try to hit off the heel, try to fade it, come back and do my straight shot. Another way you could use this brick is if I set these up into what's called the square divots setting.
I can take this, these two alignment sticks, I can put them just behind my ball. I'd be hitting driver width toward my target, and this could gimme a great feel on how to get my path perfectly straight. So again, if I'm hitting a straight shot here, I'm just trying to split those sticks and hit it in the middle of the club face.
Let's give it a whirl here again,
and that one was really straight telling you. I got the good face control from doing these drills from this course. I pulled it about five yards, hit the center of the face, went really straight. That's another way that you can work on your straight shots with this brick. Alternate. We're gonna go fade, draw straight, fade, draw straight.
You're gonna get five successful shots with each of them. That's gonna conclude week three. You're gonna get be getting pretty dialed in with this week four. It's gonna feel really good. You're probably gonna hit some of the best shots of your life in week four, and I can't wait to work with you next week.
