In this video, Clay presents the first drill of week two, focusing on mastering fades and draws. Viewers are guided to achieve ten successful fades by aligning their swing path using a stick in the Blue Brick training aid, ensuring the shots start to the left and fade back. For draws, the setup changes with different hand positions and swing paths, emphasizing an inside-out approach with a clubface turning over. Achieving ten successful draws will help golfers control their shot’s start line and curvature, setting the foundation for more advanced skills in weeks three and four.

Hey, welcome back. We're in the first drill for week number two. This is the drill recap. Uh, what we're doing here is we're gonna get 10 total successful fades. They don't have to be in a row. I do wanna get these balls to start up in the air. I do want them to start on the correct sides. If you imagine if I have my brick lined up toward the target, I'm gonna use the brick when I'm doing this.
By the way, this makes it way easier. I highly recommend it, basically, uh, required for this course. But when I hit my fade side or my slice side, I'm gonna make sure I swing over top of this. Stick on the brick. It's on the driver setting. I have a stick lined up on the outside of the brick. That would be alignment number two or alignment one.
Excuse me. I'm gonna go over top of this. That's gonna guarantee that my path gets to the left. Don't have to get too close to the stick. I'm gonna swing what, what is to the left over top of this stick. And then I'm just gonna do my fade release or my slice release. Again, if I'm coming through the shot, I'll stand here.
As I finish. Hands are in club faces toward the sky out like that. A couple tips here to fade it. I want my shoulders more level, so if I take my fingertips and drop 'em down to my right knee with my right hand, that's more of a draw or hook release as I go a little bit more level, that makes it easier to fade it.
So I'm gonna set up. With my fingertips to the middle of my thigh here, where both fingertips would be the same heights on my thigh. That's how I'm gonna set up with it. I'm gonna imagine there's a plane of glass here and I'm swinging down that plane of glass going to the left, missing this stick that's on the ground to the outside, and I'm gonna do my fade or slice release to make that ball slice needs to start to the left to be a successful shot.
If I start it way over here and it slices, that doesn't count, I gotta start it to the left and get it to fade backward or slice back. Soon as I, I do 10 of those, I'm gonna switch over to the draw side. I'm gonna do the exact opposite now. Instead of my fingertips being level, I'm gonna let this left hand go up my leg, right hand goes down to my knee.
I've set myself up in this position to where it's easier to draw it. I'm gonna imagine a plane of glass now going inside out to the right. I'm gonna miss underneath this stick and I'm gonna do my hook release, meaning when I come through my hands go out. And my club face turns over, so I gotta let this club release.
The club face will be pointing down to the ground again. I'm gonna hit 10 total successful shots. I'll make it a little easy swing here, feeling like I come from the inside 'cause I'm tilted to the right. That makes it easier to come from the inside. And then I just make sure I release it. If you're not drawing it, remember it's only when you hit the golf ball, that's when the club face has to be closed.
So make sure it's really closing down there and turning back. Has the start to the right has to drawback. 10 successful shots there, so we're gonna do 10 successful shots on each of them. Once you've nailed this, now you're starting to get control of your start line and the curvature. This is when things start to get fun.
As we move into week three and week four, this, we're gonna start to dial it in. Every single week gets a little better than the week before. Best of luck and I'll see you soon.
